The Eduardo Sarabia "There Will Be a Good Day" solo exhibition is on display at the Anne de Villepoix gallery from May 28th to July 31st. Eduardo Sarabia (born 1979) is a rising star in contemporary art from Mexico, South America, navigating between local folk art and postmodern artistic critique. For his first exhibition in Paris, under the vision of "There Will Be a Good Day," he satirizes and critiques contemporary Mexican society, which spares no cost (drug trafficking, smuggling, eroticism, etc.) to satisfy individual greed.

Centered around the series installation of (consumer) objects in the form of monuments—smooth enamel-glazed ceramic vases and jars—titled "Money Changes Everything," these vases feature gold-leafed depictions of erotic nudes and floral plants. They are placed atop white cooler boxes bearing the inscription OXXO (the largest supermarket chain in Mexico). The anomalous symbol in these vases and boxes raises the question: are they filled with goods or drugs, are they objects or vessels? Humor and absurdity echo the violent political-economic reality of contemporary Mexico, particularly the powerful Mexican drug cartels.

Even more remarkably, this resonates with a recent event that shocked Mexican society: a decapitated drug dealer's head was found in a white OXXO cooler box. Additionally, the exhibition features a striking series of audacious paintings that hover between figuration and abstraction, humor and satire, anecdote and aesthetics.
