Humorous Model -3 2008

Poetic Model Series 2008 Elmgreen and Dragset "Side Effects" solo exhibition: January 19 to March 8 at Emmanuel Perrotin Gallery. Michael Elmgreen (born 1961 in Copenhagen, Denmark) and Ingar Dragset (born 1969 in Norway) are currently the most representative artists of Northern Europe, whose works span sculpture and fashion clothing, standing independently in today's art world. In this solo exhibition, a new series of sculptural costumes is presented; these innovative garments were created by contemporary young fashion masters Alberta Ferretti, Sonia Rykiel, Gaspard Yurkovich, Vanessa Bruno, and Henrik Vibskov. The fashionable clothes are dressed according to the body shapes of these sculptural figures. Under the contrast of soft and smooth material textures, forms, and colors, they are sometimes quite ambiguous and sensual, without losing modern humor. These anthropomorphic, gentle, indeterminate form Cyborg sculptures, under half-human and half-animal forms, have an enchanting skin-colored body (metaphorically representing humans themselves). Their humorous and energetic forms evoke the sculptural images of modernist sculptors Henri Moore, Jean Arp, Barbara Hepworth, and Constantin Brancusi. This extraordinary style walks on the edge between sculpture and fashion clothing, serving as one example of how contemporary art constructs possibilities across various disciplines.
