Post-Utopia installation: like a geometric colorful abstract sculpture, 2008

One of the post-utopian installation scenes, 2008. Liam Gillick's solo exhibition "Factory in the Snow," on view at Air de Paris from March 15 to May 17. Born in 1964, Liam Gillick is a rare writer, musician, and artist, one of the most active American artists today. His work, grounded in sculpture-architecture, elucidates eternal post-utopian construction, exploring socio-economic, political, technological, and product-based post-industrial and post-capitalist contexts. Since 2004, he has built upon the fundamental concept of "Construction of One." He examines methodological structures, materials, and colors to determine human behavior, developing various structural and formal possibilities. Through imaginative fictional narratives, he addresses the dissemination of industrial technology, social and historical development, and the relationship between production and development in a post-industrial and post-capital environment. This series presents mixed installations including sculptures, objects, and texts, depicting scenarios such as the relocation of Nordic automotive factories due to globalization, workers returning to sites, and discussions on economic exchange systems and product alternation. In this solo exhibition, Gillick presents two major columns of sculpture-architecture-objects. Bright colors become the rhythm of geometric sculptures, resembling facade geometric abstract painting-sculptures, paired with black design themes on the walls, constructing an imaginative space that measures society, products, technology, and post-industrial history, intellectually questioning all issues left behind by post-industrial and post-capitalism.
