Time: Friday, December 30, 2016, 7:00–9:00 PM

Having lived in Paris for 35 years, one of Speaker Chen Chi-Hsiang’s primary research themes is “Globalized Gallery Development Trends.” This lecture will use long-term recorded image materials to introduce the background and current development status of more than twenty influential international galleries in Paris, detailing their rise and fall through trials of time and global economic shifts. It observes operational models of new-generation young galleries, such as Galerie Perrontin and Almine Rech, and the origins of Kamel Mennour Gallery, which evolved from a collector to a gallery owner. This lecture focuses on observing and analyzing important international galleries in Paris, serving as an essential reference guide and source of inspiration for art enthusiasts and professionals in the gallery industry.
Content Summary: Layout of art galleries under globalization; current ecology and status of Parisian galleries; exhibition types (Old Contemporary, New Contemporary, Global Contemporary, Local Contemporary); each gallery’s stylistic positioning; trends in galleries and contemporary art; relationships between galleries, markets, and art fairs; connections between galleries and museums; and dynamics among galleries, artists, and collectors.
