Opening the Eye of the Mind to See
Jan van Eyck Man in a Blue Turban Oil painting

Text and photos by Chen Chi-Hsiang. I enjoy observing all natural phenomena in the human world, looking without restriction; everything is worth seeing and learning from. Exploring the myriad manifestations of the universe, the vast human realm across time and space, mountains and rivers, classical, modern, and contemporary art, nature or humanities—I experience them through existing people, things, and events. Opening the eye of the mind and widening infinite horizons allows me to appreciate, perceive, and feel. Of course, encountering excellent artworks always brightens my vision, and natural beauty illuminates my body and spirit. The aesthetic experience is thrilling; these are gifts from heaven. Living means living well, enjoying, discovering, and experiencing everything. No matter where, in what space, or under what conditions, one should fully experience the rise and fall of life, especially in today’s diverse society, learning and witnessing existence with an inclusive mindset.
