Lecture Introduction:

Paris’s vibrant contemporary art hubs include Palais de Tokyo, Centre Pompidou, MAC VAL Musée d'Art Moderne de la Ville de Paris, Le Plateau (a major contemporary space in Greater Paris), and the highly active Ivry contemporary art center. Other key institutions are Fondation Cartier and Fondation Louis Vuitton.

Paris hosts regular annual contemporary art exhibitions at the Louvre, Palace of Versailles, Grand Palais, and Musée du quai Branly.

For modern photography, notable venues include the Jeu de Paume and Maison Européenne de la Photographie.

Paris’s grandest annual contemporary art events include Nuit Blanche in early October, FIAC (Paris International Contemporary Art Fair) in late October, and Paris Photos in early November. Additionally, artist studios across Paris and Greater Paris open to the public, and the Thirteenth Arrondissement features emerging outdoor street art museums.
