Strolling through Bercy Park in early spring.

The carousel playground at Bercy Park is a favorite leisure space for children.

The winter colors and poetry within the park.

Spring fills the branches—Bercy Park’s plum blossoms are in full bloom.

People stroll in Paris at any time and in any setting, especially on weekends, when public spaces are always filled with outdoor activities (though fewer people venture out in the dead of winter). According to meteorological statistics, this year’s winter in Paris was the sunniest in 50 years. Indeed, the sunshine this year seemed to look after us Parisians particularly well; not only was the weather clearer, but it also illuminated people’s hearts, bringing warmth and vitality. On this rare weekend day of bright sunshine, we were invited to our niece’s house for lunch and strolled home with my wife until evening. Passing through our favorite walking spot, Bercy Park, we found it bustling with crowds. In the warm temperature of early spring, seeing nature in the park poised for emergence, while the park’s plum blossoms displayed their profuse flowers, brought joy as the earth awakened since early spring. Clear weekend days see Bercy Park always serving as a space for community residents to stroll, relax, and engage in outdoor sports. The carousel playground by the park has become lively again, a space for families. The scenes of many parents accompanying their children playing represent one of life’s happiest aspects. Spring on the branches is also happiness; this is a portrayal of life in Paris.
