Paris's Late Spring
In recent years, global climate has been strange—Paris's late spring.
Spring arrives with light and energy; vitality and youth are present now. The arrival of Easter finally awakens the earth, renewing all things. Sunlight brings energy, blue skies accompany white clouds, and youth is accompanied by vigor. However, the current financial crisis brings economic depression, casting a chill over society. A frozen spring adequately describes the current social situation. According to the calendar, March 20 marks the arrival of spring, but this year’s spring arrived late, delaying by two or three weeks, as if even this beautiful spring was invaded and disturbed by the financial storm.
Parisians waited devotedly for warm sunlight and the coming of spring, appearing somewhat restless under the gloom of late winter. Brilliant spring will always arrive; the rotation of time and space ensures it comes when it should. Forcing it is useless. Recently, the weather fluctuated between cloudy and sunny, good and bad. One could smell the breath of spring wind and rain; tree tips were full of life, plum blossoms filled the branches, and swallows played in the trees.
This week, Paris enjoyed rare sunshine. Spring awakened the earth; brilliant sunlight uplifted people’s hearts, dispelling gloomy expressions. Parisians went outdoors to welcome the vitality of the new spring. With green branches overflowing with life and the earth bursting with colorful hues, daylight gradually extended. Streets, malls, and cafes returned to their usual crowds. Spring has finally arrived. Amidst all this renewal, we hope for a bright future.
