Taiwan - My Homeland
No matter how you look at the map of Taiwan, it is "beautiful" — because this is my homeland.

From Paris to Taiwan, returning to the beloved land and back into the embrace of my hometown, there is always a profound emotion each time, like a wanderer returning to their mother's bosom. This deep kinship and feeling are indescribable; in the place where people and earth are dear, and the original source of life, this heartfelt passion makes me rarely drunk and moved in my life. In the past, when the plane landed at Taoyuan International Airport, I was always moved to tears; in recent years, however, I have become more at ease, conversing with myself: "Homeland, I am back, everything is safe." The road home is the warmest; returning to the embrace of my hometown is the happiest. Every scene, object, grass, and flower in my hometown, or every relative, friend, and close companion, are indispensable original hosts in my life and existence. Through coming and going, I cherish all this "love" and "affection" even more; it is the most complete and happy original source of life.
Taiwan has long been praised as Formosa and called the Beautiful Island. Indeed, between the Atlantic Ocean and the Taiwan Strait, it is like a pearl on the sea, a verdant green island. The Central Mountain Range stretches across the entire island, resembling the momentum of a giant dragon rolling, with magnificent forests, clear mountains and beautiful waters, bright scenery, and an elegant environment. It is rich in resources, spring-like throughout the four seasons, with favorable weather, national peace, and prosperity. Industry and commerce are developed, the people are open-minded, kind, enthusiastic, honest, and sincere. Knowledge is widespread, making it a peach blossom spring with good mountains, good water, and good living conditions. According to global quality-of-life indices, Taiwan offers abundant material wealth and convenient living functions, making it a high-quality place for life worldwide. Residents on the island have raised awareness of health and environmental protection; morning and evening, parks, urban green spaces, and schools are full of vitality, with people exercising, walking, jogging, doing calisthenics, rhythmic dancing, tai chi, and qigong. Physical and mental health has become a sport for all citizens.
In recent years, there has been greater emphasis on exploring the path to physical, mental, and spiritual health. The entire island seems captivated by spiritual cultivation. This is not just environmental protection, but also deeper spiritual environmentalism. Spiritual practices are quite diverse and varied. The flourishing of Buddhism is rare; worshipping Buddha, chanting sutras, visiting temples, sitting in meditation, Zen practice, and spiritual studies make it a spiritual island. Although Taiwan often faces limitations due to its own political realities on the international stage, Taiwanese people have stepped out of this difficult situation. Their concern extends beyond the vulnerable on the island, filled everywhere with the spirit of faith, hope, and love. Their foundation is not just Taiwan; with a global perspective, within this global village, Taiwan cares for and helps the vulnerable and poor around the world. Whenever natural disasters occur globally, Taiwan, based on the spirit of universal compassion and loving others as oneself, goes all out to rescue and provide relief. Each natural disaster allows us to best appreciate the humanitarian spirit of Taiwanese people, and the faith, hope, and love among humans, dissolving alienation and barriers between people and promoting human peace. Letting go of all comparisons, ideologies, respecting differences and diversity, elevating personal physical, mental, and spiritual well-being through faith, hope, and love, heaven on earth is here and now. Of course, Taiwanese society still has much room for improvement and development compared to others. Under the intention of co-creating a world of truth, goodness, and beauty, I feel that being Taiwanese is something to be proud of.
