London – Graffiti Scenery on the Walls
The unremarkable streetscape of Shoreditch district.

London is a creative metropolis, a capital of art and fashion design; creativity is taken for granted, making its street scenes particularly captivating. Especially in the trendy Shoreditch district, though somewhat aged, it is full of youthful style, featuring bustling local markets, numerous young design studios, galleries, clubs, boutique shops, and contemporary art spaces like White Cube, all of which subtly shape the area’s uniqueness and vitality.
Walking in this youth-favored area often brings unexpected surprises. Guided by my daughter who knows London well, we specifically came to search for graffiti on the walls. Amidst the bustling local markets, we discovered large-scale installations and painted works that resemble outdoor object art, revealing the spectacular scenery of graffiti on the walls.
In the winding alleys or marginal areas of the old urban streets, there are surprising graffiti works, broadly categorized into: painting, patterns, text, and graffiti; figurative, abstract, dreamlike, and sci-fi; characters, portraits, and animals. They feature humor, wit, metaphors, and symbolic references. Many possess considerable quality and diverse tastes; some have strong social and political colors. The numerous stylistic works offer high visual appeal and artistic value, astonishing me, a Parisian.
Every time I visit London, I go with my daughter to explore its unique graffiti scenery, offering an alternative London tour. Here, I select some to share with bloggers.
