"A Surprise Gift for Museum Audiences from the Artist"

Li Ming-Wei (born 1964) is one of Taiwan’s most prominent international conceptual action artists. His work resembles life; his creation is as free and natural as breathing, infused with humanistic warmth and introspective Eastern philosophy. Following the first "Move" art exhibition at Centre Pompidou last year, he presents another surprise gift to museum audiences: "Sonic Blossm."

Inspired by the artist’s self-reflection and life experiences, Li transformed an existential experience into artistic action during his mother’s post-surgery recovery, soothed by Schubert’s famous art songs. This proved that art can provide answers for existence.

The performance offers a momentary sharing of intimate music with the audience within the museum. A singer provides a surprise gift in the gallery, inviting unexpectedly encountered viewers to sit and listen to her singing. Unfolding in the form of Schubert romances, this spiritual gift allows the audience to enjoy the fleeting moment and experience the imagery of sublimated life, fulfilling "Sonic Blossm’s" intention to fill the world with artistic energy.

Several vocalists take turns performing five songs by Franz Schubert in the exhibition space: "Du bist die Ruh," "An den Mondschein," "Frühlingsglaube," "Nacht und Träume," and "Auf dem Wasser zu singen."

Performers: Beibei Guan, Yeonji Lee, Marion Sicre, Shingo Nishizawa, Sara Kehder, Constance Malta-Bey, Stéphanie Bore Colonna, Julie Grutzka.

This exhibition is a collaboration between Centre Pompidou and Bavarian.
