"Floating Objects" Environmental Space Installation 2008

Detail of "Flying Objects," environmental space installation, 2008. Veronique Joumard's solo exhibition "Blue Under the Sun" runs from June 13 to July 26 at Serge le Borgne Gallery. Born in 1964, French artist Veronique Joumard connects extreme art, industrial design, and architecture, incorporating viewer bodies through object volume, light, and environmental space to explore diverse possibilities. In this poetic solo show, she explores color through light intensity and multifunctional trials, revealing combinations of light and objects. "Blue" consists of 11 light blue geometric pedestals (squares, rectangles, etc.), evoking furniture components or platforms. Like minimalism, they freely construct space within the gallery, changing volume with shifting light and viewpoints, akin to the awareness found in a series of seven monochrome paintings on the wall.

Another environmental installation, "Flying Objects," features silver nitrogen-filled balloons tied to square stools, floating lightly from the ceiling. This poetically imagines flying chairs, questioning gravity and balance. Mirrored balloons reflect the environment, transforming functional objects into ungraspable ones. Finally, the "Late Night" photo series attempts to capture extraordinary light from landscapes. Veronique Joumard’s work offers a mutable sensory process, altering perceptions of light, volume, and space.
