Meeting the Artist - Master Zhuang Mingqi
"Wood is Screaming" Series - Stinky Horse

Text and photos by Chen Chi-Hsiang. A Saturday afternoon (Feb 24) began a southern artist tour with painter friend Su Guoqing. "Meeting the Artist," Sunday morning we strolled around Moon World, at noon went to Wanman to devour pig trotters, enjoying food, drink, and play. In the afternoon, we headed together to Zhuang Mingqi's studio in Pingtung to visit my master of heart, Zhuang Mingqi. His junior colleague from the National Taiwan University of Arts Art Research Institute and wife welcomed us, inviting us upstairs to listen to his "Wood is Screaming" series. It was wailing, miserable, pathetic, and thrilling beyond belief; unable to restrain ourselves, we could only stand before the screaming horse to pose for photos. We wanted to ride the pulling horse and flee, alas—we could only run on the spot.
Master Zhuang Mingqi will be fleeing to the "Pingtung Museum of Art - Scream" solo exhibition next Saturday (March 4 to April 23). Friends with leisure and no objection, come sway together—scream—but do not take ecstasy pills.
