Text and images by Chen Chi-Hsiang. Foreword: Thank heaven, thank earth, thank Mother Earth. Standing on this land, "We are all in the same boat; creativity is a local value, and locality becomes great because of creative power. Art can only make society better for humanity." "Indeed, good works and achievements seem more lonely if not shared; thank you all for coming to share." All because of "art," and our dear painter friend "Li Yu-Yuan," on this special date of gratitude, we gather here. Through "Endless Radiance," we pay highest tribute to painter Li Yu-Yuan. As an exhibitor, I sincerely thank everyone and wish the exhibition complete success.
Regarding this "curatorial" approach: It is all about "love," using action to "fulfill art." Regarding the exhibition "theme": "Endless Radiance – Paying Highest Tribute to Painter Li Yu-Yuan," inspired by Li Yu-Yuan’s painting "Radiance" (2013). We also reflect on the sigh of life's lightness and art's heaviness, gazing at the horizon, paying highest tribute to our friend, and conversing with him through his works.
Regarding the "significance" of this exhibition: To commemorate and remember our painter friend. This exhibition publicly displays his rich body of work, allowing us the opportunity to view his lifetime of creation. Li Yu-Yuan’s artistic achievements are evident to all; we and the public can delve deeper into his works, discovering their artistic meaning, value, and greatness during the exhibition.
Exhibition theme – "Endless Radiance" (main title) – Paying Tribute to Painter Li Yu-Yuan (subtitle).
Exhibition layout plan: We present the exhibition with a new perspective on installation methods. This includes wonderful or representative works from various stages (as the main body), creative manuscripts, studio life objects, personal photos, audio-visual materials, and another space for writing while gazing at the horizon (one wall) (the last two units were not realized). The planning is comprehensive, allowing society to engage with deep remembrance, memories, and reflections on the painter.
Industry-academia cooperation plan: Additionally, this exhibition could consider collaborating with the Department of Arts (industry) at Chia-Yi University on curatorial proposals and spatial installations. This has educational functions, offering a rare opportunity for students to observe and personally participate in this exhibition.
Areas for student learning: Regarding an exhibition practice plan: planning, how to determine a theme (importance of the theme), selection of works, coordination of spatial concepts, practical spatial operation, arrangement of works in space, actual participation in setup, how to organize exhibition text writing, how to create an exhibition and demonstrate its value, etc.
